Grave Sight (Harper Connelly #1)

I’ve read and loved all of the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris. When Borders went under I found a graphic novelization of GS and picked it up. I think the GN version breaks the book up into 3-4 parts so I only got the beginning of the story. It was enough, I was intrigued.

So began the search for Harper. My local libraries owned several of the books, just not the first. Why a library would own only pieces of a series is beyond me, but not even THE FIRST in it? I eventually was able to find and borrow the e-book version.

Harper and her (step) brother, Tolliver, travel across the country looking for corpses. Harper got struck by lightning at 15 and can now sense the presence of nearby bodies as well as see their last moments and know the cause of death. She says her tax forms list her as a consultant.

Their work takes them to Sarne, Arkansas where the mother of a dead teenage boy doesn’t believe that her son committed suicide, not does she believe that he’s responsible for his girlfriend’s disappearance at the time of his death. While Harper is in town she ends up attracting unwanted attention and accidentally uncovers more.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s a fun mystery. I figured out most of the end long before Harper did but still enjoyed the journey. There was still some bit of a surprise left for me too. I intend to continue the series as well as my search for new Harris reads.
